The purpose of a landscape rake is to move material such as dirt or debris over a flat surface of land for a smoothing effect. You can use a landscape rake to clean flat, low grass fields such as parks by removing large amounts of debris. They can also aerate the soil slightly if the tines are set to dig into the surface a few inches.
